Covington Responds To Speculation He’s Going To Be A Coach On TUF

Colby Covington has refuted claims that he will be coaching on the next series of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). The speculation began last week when UFC president Dana White, listed some potential big names to head up the next season, which included ‘Chaos’ and Kamaru Usman.

Covington lost to Usman when the pair met at UFC 245 last year. Despite the defeat, Colby put on an excellent show of technique and heart which took Usman in to deep waters.

In an interview with MMAOddsBreacker.com (transcribed by BJPenn.com) the American Top Team staple revealed that he has not received any information about coaching the next season of TUF.

“No, there’s no truth to that. I haven’t heard anything about that. That’s something you’d have to talk to Ballangee, my management agency, about. Ballangee’s got the answer to that,” Covington said.

“But you know, I’m just saying ready. I want my rematch more than anything. I’m just gonna stay prepared. It’s gonna come. There will be a sequel and there will be a trilogy with Marty Fake Newsman (Usman), and when it comes, I will be prepared and I will take what’s mine.”

While Dana has suggested that Covington and Usman could go head-to-head on TUF, the UFC boss still believes that Kamaru vs Jorge Masvidal is the fight to make. Another rival of Colby, Tyron Woodley, is set to face Gilbert Burns on the UFC’s May 23rd card.

Would you like to see Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter? Or is there another rivalry you would rather see go up against each other on TUF?
