Darren Till Believes He Should Be Fighting For BMF Belt

This weekend, Darren Till will make his middleweight debut when he takes on former middleweight title contender, Kelvin Gastelum. Yet another interesting tidbit from the weekend, is that both Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will fight for a title that has never been defended in the promotion. Dana White revealed sometime ago that he would be designing a ‘Bad Motherf**ker’ belt just for this occasion.

Since then, every fan, fighter and pundit has given us their take on the matter. Darren Till, too, has an opinion about the subject. However, his belief is that he should be fighting for the rather unusual title over anyone else in the UFC.

“I don’t like it too much”, Till told Metro, while discussing about the title (via The Mac Life). “It doesn’t mean anything really. I am a bad motherf*cker. I’m jumping up in weight. I should be getting that belt.”

Darren Till was close to getting his hands on the 170 lbs title, but lost to Tyron Woodley. While ‘Gorilla’ tried to get back to winning ways immediately, he ran into a resurgent Jorge Masvidal. For that part, Till believes the UFC title has more meaning and prestige than the BMF belt.

“The UFC belt is the belt you want”, Till continued. “No disrespect to Masvidal or Nate and you do have to consider the fact they are bad motherf*ckers, but so am I and so is Gastelum.”

Till’s decision to move up a weight class also has to do with the opportunity it presents to fight for the title. And the former welterweight title contender believes Israel Adesanya is the complete package.

“I think he’s the whole package”, Till said of Adesanya. “Me and him are very alike. He’s got swag, style and he knows how to talk. He’s very intelligent, he can fight and he’s cool. What’s not to like? The only people hating on him are jealous, bitter people. I thought he could lose that fight and he just beat Rob up. I don’t see where any hatred could come from.”

Darren Till will make his middleweight debut in the UFC against Kelvin Gastelum this weekend at UFC 244, inside MSG, New York.
