Robert Whittaker Wants To Fight Darren Till

“The Reaper” is on the hunt for “The Gorilla”. After losing his UFC Middleweight Championship to Israel Adesanya last month, Robert Whittaker has set his sights on taking on the new man in the division – Darren Till.

Whittaker was impressed with Till’s performance in the co-main event of UFC 244, where he beat top ranked middleweight, Kelvin Gastelum. The Liverpudlian winning via a split decision in his 185lbs debut.

Speaking on his Granger TV podcast (as transcribed The Mac Life), Whittaker expressed the intention to meet Darren in a middleweight showdown, in what would be a real fan favourite fight.

“I can see him, he’s going to stay in the middleweight division and he’s going to be dangerous, now he’s in the top five. I’m going to have to fight him.”

Not only was the former UFC middleweight champion impressed with Till’s performance inside the Octagon, he also said he’s a big fan of his persona as well.

“He looked great. Whenever anyone puts a mic in his hands, I love it, I tune in. I’m gonna have to fight him. I’m going to have to fight him.”

Whittaker recently pulled out of his scheduled speaking tour of New Zealand, due to wanting to get back inside the UFC Octagon as soon as possible.

When asked about a possible 185lbs showdown with Whittaker during his UFC 244 post fight press conference, Till said he thought it was a “terrific fight”.
