UFC: Brian Kelleher Calls Out Sean O’Malley, Wants To Steal All His Hype

UFC Bantamweight prospect, Brian Kelleher issued a very interesting, personal call-out of rising star, ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley.

“I’d like to steal all that hype,” Kelleher said in an interview with MMA Island on Wednesday. “Smoke him, then smoke all his weed. I’ll let him take a hit though, I’m not that mean.”

Kelleher has been eyeing a fight with O’Malley since his UFC debut against Terrion Ware, which highlighted him as one of the promotion’s biggest rising stars. While ‘The Sugar Show’ is definitely becoming a notable name in the bantamweight division, after securing two performance bonuses in his last three fights. ‘Boom’ however, isn’t buying into the hype, claiming his opponents have been “hand picked and spoon fed”.

“I’m willing to fight anybody. He’s somebody who has a lot of hype behind him. He has this cocky attitude that I don’t really like. Nothing personal, it’s just that I’m willing to fight the guys with the biggest hype so I can steal their hype and that it could become all of mine, you know, so everybody can see who’s the baddest guy.

“I think the UFC’s smart about who they match him up with as well. So, you can’t blame him fully, but the truth of the matter is that the UFC is handpicking guys to be good match-ups for him to be victorious. Because you know, they got a guy who has a big following and they want to build him to become a future champion.”

33 year old Kelleher stated that he wishes to fight O’Malley in a late-summer showdown, when the UFC makes its long-awaited return to Dublin, Ireland on August 15th.

“I’m just trying to say hey, if he’s ready to test himself, I’m the guy.”

Kelleher is coming off a first round submission win over Ode Osbourne at UFC 246. While O’Malley has just comeback from a two year lay off at UFC 248, where he scored a first round TKO win over Jose Quinonez.
