UFC – Dominick Reyes: I know I’m Going To Beat Jon Jones

On February 8th, Dominick Reyes will look to do what no one else has managed to do before, beat Jon Jones. In twenty seven fights, ‘Bones’ has won all but two. Almost ten years ago to the day, the 32 year old was disqualified against Matt Hamill for illegal elbows, in a fight he was dominating. And then after beating Daniel Cormier in 2017 at UFC 214, the result was overturned to a no-contest, after he tested positive for turinabol.

Despite going up against many people’s GOAT, Reyes is going into their UFC 247 main event full of confidence. So much so, that the 29 year old says he is already looking forward to giving Jones a rematch.

“Absolutely. I look forward to the rematch. I’m already planning the rematch in Cowboy Stadium. That’s already in the works,” Reyes told MMA Fighting.

“I already know what’s going to happen. I’m going to beat him, it’s not going to be enough. Perfect, let’s do it in Cowboy Stadium except this time it’s my pay-per-view.”

Reyes, who himself is unbeaten after twelve professional fights, stated that up till now, his career has gone to plan.

“It’s almost like I designed this. Everything I said was going to happen, happened. Everything I planned has happened. I know exactly what I need to be successful and now I’m doing it.”

With his last six wins coming in the UFC, four of which were finishes, and the confidence that brings, Reyes warns Jones not to be ‘cocky’ ahead of their title fight.

“I’m definitely not the one you want to act cocky with. I mean I hope he doesn’t but if he does, s***, better for me.”

Knowing that ‘Bones’ has somewhat had an air of invincibility about him in the UFC, Reyes knows just what a big deal it would be to not only win the title in Houston, but to also beat Jones.

“It’s Jon Jones. This is bigger than the title. Yes and no because the title’s big but not only winning the title but you’re beating arguably the best to ever do it. It’s huge. It’s f***ing huge.”

Jones and Reyes will fight for the UFC light heavyweight title in the main event at UFC 247, which goes down on February 8th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
