UFC: Miocic Wants To Fight Fury Next, Says DC Got Lucky In First Fight

After Stipe Miocic defeated Daniel Cormier in their rematch at UFC 241 this past August, the general consensus was that the two would fight for a third time next. But things can change quick in the world of MMA, and now the Stipe has indicated that he wants to face Tyson Fury next.

After UFC 241, Dana White confirmed that the UFC planned on making the trilogy fight. This was followed by Cormier stating that he has one more fight in him and it had to be against Miocic. Soon after Dana and DC’s comments though, the UFC heavyweight champion announced that he would be sidelined for the foreseeable future, due to a major retina injury and will return ‘when I can see out of both eyes again’.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Miocic said that his torn retina had improved but the ‘dark floaties’ are still in his eye.

Despite being on the sidelines, Miocic is looking ahead to his return. Which might not be inside the UFC Octagon.

“Tyson Fury is coming in the mix now, I hear. I like a new challenge.

“I’d love to box him. He’s a great fighter. He’s a good dude, and I think we’d put on a good show.”

With Fury teasing a move to MMA, Miocic isn’t alone in calling out the lineal heavyweight boxing champion. Francis Ngannou and Greg Hardy have both called him out in the last week, for showdowns in MMA and boxing.

As well as calling out Fury again, Miocic also threw some shade in Cormier’s direction. Claiming that DC scored a lucky knockout in their first encounter at UFC 226.

“With DC, I didn’t fluke knock him out, I beat him. I decisively beat him. The first fight DC caught me with a punch in the first round. But second fight I won. I didn’t get lucky. Right now, [a Cormier fight] doesn’t really intrigue me. More with the Tyson Fury, I like that.”

Following Miocic’s comments, Cormier was quick to respond on social media.
