Adriano Moraes vs Demetrious Johnson Set For ONE: Reign Of Dynasties

Demetrious Johnson will challenge Adriano Moraes for the ONE flyweight world title in Chongqing, China, at ONE: Reign Of Dynasties. Just moments ago, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong took to social media to announce the breaking news.

“BREAKING NEWS: Demetrious Johnson (30-3) will challenge ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes (18-3) for the world title on April 11 in China!”

Johnson earned the right to fight Adriano Moraes by winning the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix in 2019. The former UFC flyweight champion came through three tough bouts on route to securing the Grand Prix title.

In the first round, which was also his ONE Championship debut, Johnson scored a second round guillotine choke submission on Japan’s Yuya Wakamatsu, at ONE: A New Era. In the semi-finals, ‘DJ’ faced another Japanese opponent, in the shape of Tatsumitsu Wada at ONE: Dawn Of Heroes. This time, ‘Mighty Mouse’ won via unanimous decision,

In the final, which went down at at ONE: Century, ONE’s 100th event, Johnson faced Team Lakay’s Danny Kingad. After three entertaining round, ‘DJ’ did enough to win on all three judges’ scorecards.

Moraes hasn’t competed in a year. In his last outing to the ONE Circle, the Brazilian won his ONE flyweight title back from Geje Eustaquio at ONE: Hero’s Ascent. The Brazilian had lost his title to the Filipino in his previous bout, at ONE: Pinnacle Of Power in June of 2018.

ONE: Reign Of Dynasties goes down in 89 days time, on April 11th. ONE Championship has not announced the venue yet.
