Angela Lee Wants To Bring ONE Championship To Hawaii

Being a world champion is something that every martial artist dreams of. For Singapore’s Angela Lee, she has achieved that feat, and now she has another dream that she is raring to accomplish – bringing a ONE Championship event to Hawaii.

“I have been asking them (ONE) since I signed with ONE Championship to have a show in Hawaii, I think that would be a dream for me. I love traveling the world and fighting in new countries, but I think fighting in Hawaii and the U.S., that people would love ONE Championship. They would love the production and the whole show. I think it would be great,” Lee revealed to MMA Junkie.

The idea to bring the biggest and largest sporting property from Asia to her current homeland in Hawaii was bolstered after witnessing another promotion make back-to-back events there last year.

“I was actually there when the Bellator show was in Hawaii, Definitely it was nice to see Ilima get a reaction like that and I’m sure ONE Championship could do a great job. I’m just really looking forward to it. I’m like ninety percent sure that it’s going to happen.”

Additionally, Angela talked about the how she and her brother Christian Lee handles their current situation as both of them currently holds a world title.

“I think that it’s really unique we can be on this journey together and we definitely talk to each other about it all the time. This journey that we’re on is definitely something we can relate to each other because we know exactly what each other are going through.”

Both of them though will see action this weekend in Japan, where her brother is set to face Saygid Guseyn ‘Dagi’ Arslanaliev in the finals of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix.

“It’s a little difficult for us to have two world championship fights on the same night. We had that before where we fought on the same card and it’s a lot of pressure. So for now at least we’re going to try to keep it separate because we both want to be there for each other and it’s really difficult when we have to fight the same night.”

Angela defends her ONE atomweight title against China’s Xiong Jing Nan in the main event of the first part of the historic two-part card, which will be the promotion’s 100th live event.

ONE: Century goes down at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday October 13th.
