Another Boxing World Champion Challenges Conor McGregor

It’s not only MMA fighters that have been calling out Conor McGregor in recent years. We’re now starting to see more boxers call out the former UFC two division champion.

McGregor obviously has history in boxing. He fought Floyd Mayweather two years ago and has recently called out Mayweather for a rematch. The Irish man, who has had a long time feud with Paulie Malignaggi, also recently fought in a boxing exhibition contest against Michael McGrane, at the Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin.

Just a few weeks ago, Keith Thurman, who fights Manny Pacquaio next month, called out McGregor.

The latest boxer to call out McGregor, is Regis Prograis. The undefeated American boxer is the WBA and WBC Super Lightweight World Champion.

And it turns out that he didn’t like McGregor recently calling out his manager, the Hollywood actor, Mark Wahlberg.

Taking to Instagram, Prograis challenged McGregor to a fight in the ring and then inside the Octagon.

While Mayweather and Malignaggi have been prepared to fight McGregor in the boxing ring, no boxer has previously been prepared to step inside a cage to fight him, under MMA rules.

The last time McGregor fought was at UFC 229, when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Despite posting a retirement tweet in March and recently posting a photo of him with his hand in a cast, it is expected that he will fight inside the Octagon by the end of the year.
