BJ Penn Released By The UFC

BJ Penn has been released by the UFC. Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole, has posted a tweet stating that UFC president Dana White, has confirmed that BJ Penn is no longer a UFC fighter.

Penn has lost his last seven fights inside the UFC Octagon and despite Dana stating that he would never fight again, after his last loss to Clay Guida at UFC 237, the UFC boss back tracked two months later and confirmed that Penn was set to fight Nik Lentz.

However, after several videos emerged online of Penn fighting in Hawaii, including one where it appeared that the former UFC two division champion was knocked out, Dana stated that Penn would never fight in the UFC again.

Now it looks like Dana has backed up his word by officially releasing the UFC Hall Of Famer.

Penn’s last win came at UFC 123 in 2010, when he knocked out Matt Hughes in the first round. The 40 year old was the second fighter in the UFC to win titles in two weight division, winning the gold strap in the lightweight and welterweight division.
