As previously reported, Robert Whittaker was pulled from the UFC 234 card, after it was revealed overnight that he was hospitalized due to hernia. Whittaker would require surgery, and UFC had no other choice but to scrap the main event of UFC 234.

The questions were then raised about Kelvin Gastelum, and what would be next for him. With Kelvin showing up and making championship weight, one felt the title contender would be short handed without getting an opportunity. Kelvin spoke to the media just minutes ago, including to Asian Persuasion MMA, and announced that he has been officially made the new UFC Middleweight Champion!
