Cain Velasquez Signs Deal With Pro Wrestling Promotion

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez returned to the Octagon after a long three year lay-off at UFC Phoenix. However, Velasquez’s return did not go as planned, with Francis Ngannou stopping the fight in just 26 seconds.

Cain Velasquez’s teammate and the UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has since talked about Cain becoming a champion again. However, Velasquez recently revealed that he will be making his professional wrestling debut this August, during AAA’s Triplemania event.

Triplemania XXVII is set to go down in Mexico City, Mexico on August 3rd, where Cain will be making his debut. Furthermore, Cain Velasquez and his team have also made it clear that it won’t just be a one-off appearance.

Cain still has two or three fights left on his current UFC deal. However, the former 2-time UFC champion has long been harboring thoughts about making a switch to professional wrestling.

“Very excited to be able to participate in #triplemaniaxxvii and be with all the Mexican fans who have always supported me”, the translation of the tweet read. “Thanks @luchalibreaaa for the big opportunity. Really excited to be part of #triplemaniaxxvii! #luchalibre #Mexico.”

MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi then confirmed that Cain Velasquez will be an AAA performer, and it won’t just be a one-off appearance.

“In a statement via his team, Velasquez confirmed he will ‘for sure’ be an in-ring performer for AAA. This is not just an appearance. Velasquez: ‘With more time learning this beautiful sport, great things will happen.'”
