Coach Albarracin: Costa Will KO Adesanya And Become Champ Champ
Former wrestler and a member of the US Army, Eric ‘Captain America’ Albarracin, has coached many notable fighters over the years, including the reigning UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, Bellator’s two-division champion Patricio Freire, and the UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa, whom he has high hopes for.
Costa has been going back and forth with the 185lbs champion Israel Adesanya for over a year. They are expected to meet inside the Octagon this summer to settle their differences. And Albarracin expects the fight to go down in history.
“Paulo Costa vs Adesanya will be the greatest middleweight title fight in history. These two hate each other, they are at each other’s throats. When we went to UFC 243, Adesanya called him Ricky Martin, and he does look like Ricky Martin but he hits like Mike Tyson. Adesanya will not step out of the cage there, Costa will erase him,” Albarracin told BJPenn.com.
‘Captain America’ is not only confident that Costa will get the knockout win over Adesanya to capture the UFC middleweight title, but also that ‘Borrachinha’ has what it takes to move up to light heavyweight and become a two division champion.
“Paulo does cut a lot of weight,” he said. “I could see him going up to 205 [pounds], he’s going to be my next champ-champ.
For Albarracin, it also makes sense to have his fighter, ‘The Korean Zombie’, challenge Alex Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title in the co-main event of the Adesanya vs Costa card, making it a ‘Team Captain America’ vs City Kickboxing affair.
“Have the main event be Costa-Adesanya and co-main of Volkanovski-Zombie because we will take that whole team out at once.”
It yet remains to be seen when Adesanya and Costa will put their unbeaten records on the line against each other, due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions, but it’s looking likely that it will happen on Dana White’s Fight Island.
