Coach Ready To Help Anthony Pettis Beat Stephen Thompson
Anthony Pettis surprised the MMA world at the start of the year by calling out Stephen Thompson for a welterweight showdown. You can read about that here. It wasn’t that long since ‘Showtime’ tried moving down to featherweight. Although Thompson would have a sizeable weight advantage, stylistically it would be a fun one for the fans.
It didn’t take ‘Wonderboy’ long to accept the challenge. Now Coach Duke Roufus has had his say. Posting on Instagram, the long term coach of Pettis said that he has the ‘playbook and experience’ to beat Thompson.
Roufus was in the corner for both of Tyron Woodley’s wins over Thompson and although Pettis and Woodley have very different styles, he’s confident he can put a winning plan together for the former UFC lightweight champion.
The older Pettis brother is coming off of a loss to Tony Ferguson at UFC 229, in what many believe was the best fight of 2018. While Thompson is coming off a loss to Darren Till last May in Liverpool, England. A fight which took place at a catchweight after Till missed weight. Since then Thompson has been struggling to find a fight.
Sources have said that the UFC are looking into making this fight. Is this a fight that you would like to see?
