Coach Roddy Reveals Who He Thinks McGregor Fights Next

Now that Conor McGregor has learned his fate from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (you can read about that here), no doubt speculation on who he will fight next will intensify.

Since ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone beat Alexander Hernandez at UFC Brooklyn earlier this month, there has been lots of speculation that he will face the Irish man next. And it would appear that McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy, thinks that it will be ‘Cowboy’ next. As he told Eurobash (as transcribed by MMA Fighting).

“The Cerrone one, it looks good. It’s a fan favourite fight. Cerrone comes out and he looks to swing and Conor’s going to be looking to knock him out. The banter beforehand, I don’t see it being as [turbulent], I think it will be funny. Both guys will go back and forth and that will be exciting for fans. I think it would be a very exciting fight.”

Roddy feels like Max Holloway has a chance of getting a rematch with McGregor but believes that ‘Cowboy’ is more like to be next for the former double champion.

“[Holloway is] putting the digs in. I saw the post of him the other day in the Jameson [Distillery]…but I don’t know. I think the Cerrone one…because [McGregor and Cerrone] both engaged directly…Conor said he’d do it and then Cerrone said he’d do it…I think that might be in the pipeline.”

Roddy was referring to Holloway’ subtle dig at Conor and his Proper Twelve at the weekend, whilst in Dublin. You can read about that here.

“I can’t confirm that 100 percent obviously, but I think the fans would love it. It’s a great fight that people want to see. They can see the two of them in there, standing up and having a bang.”

Who would you like to see McGregor fight next?
