Colby Covington Hits Back At Jorge Masvidal

How quickly things can change in the world of MMA. It wasn’t that long ago that Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were best friends. Now, that couldn’t be further away from the truth.

Despite the former friends having the biggest fights of their life coming up, Covington challenges Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 245 and Masvidal of course takes on Nate Diaz this weekend at UFC 244, both have made the effort to hit out at each other.

In the lead up to UFC 244, Masvidal was asked about Covington, to which he replied that he was going to hurt him worse than he hurt Ben Askren. ‘Chaos’ has now hit back though, speaking at the UFC 245 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas (as transcribed by MMA Mania), the 31 year old said ‘Gamebred’ will need help paying for his medical bills, after he’s finished with him.

“I want to be the one to end the hype of the broken, mediocre fighter championship this weekend. We all know it’s a journeyman championship. They’re both 50-50 in the last couple of years. They win one fight, lose one fight. So I would absolutely love to get my hands on Masvidal.”

“But let me tell you one thing. Win, lose, or draw tomorrow night for Masvidal, I will get locked in the cage and not go to jail for beating his ass because he’s said some things in the media and now it needs to be settled. Because if I beat him up on the streets he’s not going to have anybody to pay his medical bills. We need uncle Dana to pay his medical bills after I’m done with him.”

As Covington said, win, lose or draw, for either guy, and you would think that their paths will have to cross inside the UFC Octagon at some point. If both win at UFC 244 and UFC 245, I think we could expect to see the fight go down early next year.

Who do you think would get their hand raised inside the Octagon, Colby Covington or Jorge Masvidal?
