Conor McGregor Being Investigated For Sexual Assault, Team Releases Statement

It hasn’t been long since Conor McGregor once again became front page news, after announcing his retirement from MMA. However, the Irish superstar is now facing some serious allegations. The New York Times reported yesterday that McGregor, who became a two-division champion in the UFC in 2016, is currently being investigated by the Irish police stemming from allegations of sexual assault.

‘The Notorious’ hasn’t been charged yet, according to the report, but the investigation is on-going. The report also states that a woman was sexually assaulted by McGregor at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin.

Following his retirement tweet and the NYT report, a spokesperson for McGregor rubbished claims that McGregor’s retirement and the sexual assault allegations were somehow inter-connected.

“This story has been circulating for some time and it is unclear why it is being reported now”, Karen Kessler, the spokesperson for Conor McGregor stated. “The assumption that the Conor retirement announcement today is related to this rumor is absolutely false. Should Conor fight in the future it must be in an environment where fighters are respected for their value, their skill, their hard work and their dedication to the sport.”
