Conor McGregor Opens Up On One Of His Proudest Moments

“We’re not just here to take part, we’re here to take over.” Conor McGregor has always been proud to wear the Irish flag and represent his country.

In recent years, the Irish man has made headlines on both the front and back pages of newspapers around the world. For all the right reasons and for all the wrong reasons. One thing that has remained consistent in all that time though, is his loyalty to his country.

Taking to Instagram in the last day, the former UFC two division champion has once again opened up about how proud he is to represent Ireland.

“All I can feel is pride in that. I’ve put in a lot of hard work in this business, in the fight business, in all my businesses but in particular the fight business. It’s a crazy, ruthless business. To be leaving a legacy, to have a solid legacy built in the sport and to see it rub off on the young athletes coming up trying to make their name. It fills me with great pride and I wish everyone well on their come up.”

So you can imagine how proud McGregor was when the UFC included the Irish flag on the new UFC belt.

”One of the proudest moments for me recently was seeing that new UFC belt where they’ve got the Irish flag on the belt. That alone, words, I can’t even put into words how that makes me feel and how proud that makes me feel. There was a time when there wasn’t even an Irishman in the UFC, it was almost laughed upon to suggest an Irishman could even get to the UFC, let alone register a win, never mind a belt, never mind even contending. Now, through hard work, through focus, through a bulletproof mind set, a never say die attitude, the Irish flag is on the UFC belt.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, last October. Although he posted a retirement tweet in March and he currently has his hand in a cast, it is expected that the 30 year old will return to the UFC Octagon this year.
