Conor McGregor: Trilogy Fight With Nate Diaz Will Happen

He may be obsessed with getting the rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov but it appears Conor McGregor still plans on fighting Nate Diaz again for a third time.

TMZ Sports have posted a video with the former UFC double champion stating that a trilogy fight with Nate will happen.

“He fought me, he beat me. He gave me a rematch at the exact same weight, there was no hesitation, that’s a true fighter right there. I have nothing but respect. I owe him the trilogy now and the trilogy will happen.”

McGregor’s comments comes just days after he responded to a tweet by Nate, saying he’s up for fighting him at any weight.

Nate won their first encounter via a second round rear naked choke at UFC 196, having took the fight on late notice after Rafael dos Anjos broke his foot. McGregor won the rematch at UFC 202, after a five round war.

McGregor last fought last October, when he lost to Khabib. He is currently suspended for his part in the brawl that happened immediately after their fight. But the suspension ends next month.

The Irish man has recently said that he is in negotiations with the UFC for his next fight. He also stated what it would take for him to fight in a co-main event. You can watch McGregor discuss both here and here.

Nate hasn’t fought since their second fight in August of 2016. The younger Diaz brother was set to fight Dustin Poirier at the end of 2018 but Poirier was forced to pull out with an injury.
