Covington To Get The Next Shot At Welterweight Title

It would appear that threatening to sue the UFC, crashing Open Workouts and confronting the boss, works. Whilst many have thought that Colby Covington’s actions this week in Las Vegas, in the lead up to UFC 235, would give him a one way ticket out of the UFC, in fact it looks like he’s going to get the next shot at the welterweight title.

In the co-main event of the event, Kamaru Usman dominated Tyron Woodley, to win the 170lbs title. With two minutes left of the fight, UFC President Dana White, approached Covington, who was cage side, and had a word with him.

Although it is not known what was said, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, has just reported that Covington has been told that he will challenge Usman for the welterweight title.

Although Covington was quick to respond to Okamoto, informing him that it will actually be him defending the title, against Usman. We’re not so sure that’s how it’s going to play out though

Earlier on, Usman had barely left the Octagon, when Covington started taunting the new champion.

In his post fight press conference, when asked about Covington, Usman had this to say:

“I want to f*** Colby Covington up so bad. I can’t be in a room with that guy. I can’t wait to be healed up and really get to put my hands on him. That’s one I’m gonna enjoy, brutalising him.”

There promises to be fireworks in the lead up to this fight.

How do you think Usman vs Covington will go down?
