Cris Cyborg Calls On Dana White To Make Amanda Nunes Rematch

Women’s MMA legend Cris Cyborg has called on UFC president Dana White to authorise a cross-promotion rematch between her and Amanda Nunes.

Cyborg is the current Bellator women’s featherweight champion but lost to Nunes at UFC 232, after getting TKO’d in the very first minute to her fellow Brazilian. The 34 year old went on to beat Felicia Spencer at UFC 240, before leaving the promotion.

A rematch between the two would make it the first time that a cross promotional fight between the UFC and Bellator. Although the chances of it happening are low, Cyborg told LowKickMMA that she’s open to the potential bout.

“Scott Coker has already sent Bellator fighters to face Rizin athletes in Japan.  We are open to the match-up”

Unfazed by the initial loss, Cyborg has been campaigning for a rematch with Nunes since the loss and argues that ‘The Lioness’ doesn’t have a lot of competition in the UFC.

“I just beat Julia Budd who was undefeated 8 years at 145lbs. Bellator has a world champion boxer in Arlene Blencowe, and the last girl to beat Nunes in Cat Zingano at 145lbs. Leah McCourt, Leslie Smith, Olga Ruben, are all fights we can make and are many girls in Bellator currently ranked in the world rankings.

“Nunes is getting ready to defend her belt against a girl who I beat on pretty decisively over three rounds, after that fight she has a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko and no other real options for quality opponents.  Who will she fight after that?”

Cyborg and Dana have always had a strenuous relationship. However, she’s hoping that the UFC boss can put their differences to the side and give the fans what they want.

“If Dana is interested in making the biggest fights for the fans that the most people want to see for the most money, I don’t see any reason why we can’t have a cross promotion fight. Fans get those in boxing all the time.”

Who do you think wins in the unlikely situation that Chris Cyborg gets her rematch with Amanda Nunes?
