Dan Hooker Calls Out Dustin Poirier After UFC 243 Win, Poirier Responds

At UFC 243 in Melbourne, Australia, Dan “Hangman” Hooker face “Ragin'” Al Iaquinta in the co-main event. Dan Hooker has previously defeated James Vick, and the win over former lightweight title contender has raised his stock in the UFC.

After the fight, Hangman didn’t hang about too long before calling for his next opponent. Hooker stopped Jon Anik in the middle of his interview after his win at UFC 243, and said he would love to face former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier next.

Poirier last faced Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi for the undisputed lightweight title. However, it was “Eagle” that dominated that affair, before stopping Poirier by submission to retain his lightweight title.

Soon after Hooker called him out, Poirier took to Twitter, saying it still wasn’t Dan’s time to fight “Diamond”.

“I’m fighting the Irishman next”, Poirier tweeted. “You’re close but not yet buddy keep punching”.

As previously reported, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have been going back and forth on social media. McGregor defeated Dustin five years ago, but both men have since changed considerably. Dustin is now one of the best lightweights in the world, while Conor has lost two of his last three fights inside the Octagon.
