Dan Ige Gives Blood To Stranger, Thinking They Were USADA

In a bizarre incident, UFC featherweight Dan Ige, gave a blood sample to a compete stranger on Thursday morning, thinking she was from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

According to Ige, a lady visited his home in Las Vegas and asked for a blood sample. But after he had provided the blood sample, Ige discovered that she wasn’t from USADA. As he told ESPN.

“I was half asleep and just went through with it. She took my blood, and after she was like, ‘What’s your name?’ I told her my name, and she goes, ‘Oh, you’re not John?’ I’m like, ‘What the f***? No, I’m not John.’

“The crazy thing was she walked out of my house with my blood. At the time, I wasn’t thinking. I was just like, ‘You’re not here for me, get out of my house.’ My main thing now is I want to get my blood back, or get proof that it was destroyed. I don’t want my blood just floating out there.”

Ige said he later found out that there was a ‘John’, who lived one street away from him, who was scheduled to have his blood sample taken on Thursday morning.

“It’s crazy. Who else comes to my door at 6 a.m. and wants blood or urine? I didn’t think about it. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but this is for my peace of mind. I don’t want to have a clone somewhere out there, or end up in a crime scene.”

Ige said he’s been in contact with the lab but the situation remains unresolved. He added that the UFC had advised him to file a police report.

Before speaking to ESPN, the story unraveled on Twitter.

Although worrying that he has AIDS may be a little dramatic, the UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky, was on hand to address the situation.
