Dana White Gives Update On Conor McGregor vs ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone

Last week at his press conference in Moscow, Russia, Conor McGregor announced that he was set to return at UFC 246 in January. Although he didn’t mention any names, a few days later, ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone revealed that he was in talks to fight Conor. Now Dana White has confirmed that the UFC is working on McGregor vs ‘Cowboy’.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, the UFC president stated that the deal is far from being done, but that is the fight the UFC are working towards to go down at UFC 246.

“We have nothing done. Nothing is even close to being done,” Dana stated. “So I hate to even talk about this stuff, [or] say it, because it might not happen. It might happen. But we’re looking at ‘Cowboy’.

“Number three versus number five, January 18th, at the T-Mobile [Arena] in Las Vegas.”

McGregor hasn’t fought in just over one year, since getting stopped by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round at UFC 229. The Irishman has since campaigned for a rematch with the Dagestani. Khabib is expected however to defend his UFC lightweight title against Tony Ferguson early next year.

‘Cowboy’ is also coming off a loss, having been stopped by Justin Gaethje in the first round at UFC Vancouver last month. Cerrone also lost his previous fight, losing to Ferguson. The Tony loss ended the 36 year old’s three fight winning streak inside the Octagon.

If the fight is made for UFC 246, who do you think will walk away with the win, Conor McGregor or ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone?
