Dana White Likes Amanda Nunes vs Claressa Shields Matchup

Recently, the undisputed women’s middleweight boxing world champion Claressa Shields, said that she would put Amanda Nunes to sleep in a boxing contest. The undefeated boxing champion’s comments led to a whole load of speculation as to how a fight between the women’s boxing GOAT and the women’s MMA GOAT would go down.

But whereas we very rarely get to find out the answers to these hypothetically matchups, maybe we will this time. While speaking to TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White was asked what he thought of the fight.

“It’d be an interesting fight.”

And the UFC boss was quick to say his fighter would have a chance against Shields.

“Of course, she hits like a truck. Anyone who punches the way she does, has a chance in a fight.

“Amanda Nunes has things she has to do here first but I’m not opposed to it.”

When asked who Nunes wants to fight next, Dana said the women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion wants a rematch with Cris Cyborg. Although he again stated that the former champion isn’t interested.

“She wants Cyborg [next]. I don’t think Cyborg wants that fight. I think it’s pretty obvious why she wouldn’t want that fight. It’s not a good fight for her, it’s a bad fight for her. I don’t think she’s afraid, she’s been fighting for a long time. But I think she’s at the point where she’s afraid to lose again. Losing again isn’t something she’s interested in. Amanda wants it, we want it, she doesn’t want it.”

Nunes is coming off of a first round TKO win over Holly Holm at UFC 239, where she defended her bantamweight title. Cyborg hasn’t fought since losing to Nunes at UFC 232 but is returning this weekend at UFC 240, against Felicia Spencer.

Two time Olympic gold medalist Shields, has a 9-0 since turning professional and holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and the Ring female middleweight titles.

Who would you like to see Amanda Nunes fight next?
