Dana White On Khabib vs Tony And Ngannou’s Next Fight

When MMA fans aren’t watching fights, they’re waiting for big fight announcements. And that’s exactly the case right now with Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson, and with Francis Ngannou.

MMA fans have been waiting for a date and venue for the Khabib vs Tony fight, since Khabib defended his UFC lightweight title against Dustin Poirier, in September at UFC 242. Likewise with Ngannou, both the fans and Francis himself have been eagerly awaiting his next fight announcement.

Luckily for the fans, The Schmo has been on hand to ask Dana White the latest, regarding Khabib vs Tony, and Ngannou.

The UFC president informed The Schmo that nothing was holding up Khabib’s title defence against Ferguson and that he expects it to go down in the first quarter of 2020.

“Nothing is holding it up. The fight is in the process of being made. It’s obviously the next fight to make, so it will happen.”

Earlier this month, Ngannou voiced his frustration at not having another fight booked yet. Well according to Dana, he may have to wait a little longer, with the UFC boss saying that he plans on having ‘The Predator’ headline the UFC’s first event in France, set to take place next year.

“We’re working on that too. Francis will definitely get a fight. What makes sense for Francis, is France. You know, we’re looking to go into France next year. We got that done (legalising MMA in France). We’ve been working on that for a very long time. We’ll probably headline him there.”

It was announced in June that from January 1st 2020, mixed martial arts will be legalised in France. As of yet, the UFC has not announced a date for their first show in France.

Ngannou last fought in June, when he TKO’d Junior dos Santos in the first round at UFC Minneapolis. It was the 33 year old’s third straight first round finish in the Octagon. Despite calling for a next shot at the champion Stipe Miocic, it is expected that the trilogy fight between Miocic and Daniel Cormier will go down next.

Dana White also discussed what’s next for the new UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
