Dana White On McGregor: ‘He’ll Fight Anybody’

When Conor McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, the MMA world wondered what was next for the Irish man. Will we see him fight again? Or will he ride of into the sun set with his millions in the bank and a bottle of Proper Twelve in his hand?

It soon became apparent that the former double champion was going nowhere and had his eye on a rematch with Khabib as soon as possible. Whether he deserves an immediate rematch, is another story. It’s generally agreed that Tony Ferguson deserves the next shot at Khabib’s lightweight crown.

UFC President Dana White, has now said that he believes McGregor is just as passionate about the fight game as he ever was. As he told, ESPN in a live Instagram chat, as transcribed by MMA Junkie.

“It’s one of the main things I love about Conor McGregor: The belt means a lot to him and being a world champion means everything to him. I love it. … 100 percent [it still means everything to him]. 100 percent.

“When a guy starts to make crazy money, life-changing money, and he’s in one of those positions where he’s not just making it from the fights – he’s making it in other businesses that he has going on right now – you find out what people are all about, how passionate they are about what they do, when the money comes. Conor and I still communicate regularly and he’s very fired up about coming back and becoming a world champion again.

“He’ll fight anybody. Obviously he would love the rematch with Khabib, but he’ll fight anybody.”

Currently both McGregor and Khabib are waiting to hear their fate from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, following the fracas at UFC 229. The hearing is set for January 29th.
