Daniel Cormier Lays Into ‘Entitled’ Stipe Miocic And ‘Stupid’ Critics

At UFC 241, Daniel Cormier will finally step inside the Octagon to defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Stipe Miocic. After all the talk about Cormier fighting Lesnar next, the proverbial golden goose is no longer around. Stipe Miocic, who hasn’t fought since losing to Daniel Cormier, will finally get his rematch, but the champion isn’t thrilled about the way Miocic, or Cormier’s critics have tried to portray him.

Cormier recently revealed that he had to undergo back surgery late last year, resulting him in sitting out for a few months. However, Stipe and some of the fans have talked about Daniel Cormier ‘ducking’ Stipe Miocic.

“You guys are so stupid”, Cormier vented in a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show (transcript via MMA News). “I couldn’t physically do it.”

Cormier then laid into Stipe Miocic, calling him ‘entitled’. Miocic has so far refused to fight anybody else, and has time and again that he deserved a rematch.

“I did not like the approach he took”, Cormier said of Miocic. “I just think he’s so good, even if he’d fought over the course of the year, he still would be in this same position. So I don’t feel I have to be nice to him anymore.

“The whole time I said he was a bit entitled. These are conversations we had with the company. He was just as happy as I was. So to make it seem like I was doing something wrong after I was the one that won the fight, I just felt like it was unfair. … I’m not wronging this guy. I’m doing exactly what we were told to do after our first fight.”

The two heavyweights will finally cross paths once again at UFC 241, with Daniel Cormier putting his UFC heavyweight title on the line.
