Daniel Cormier Responds To Stipe Miocic Calling Him An Idiot

What started out as a very respectful rivalry, has turned into anything but that. It may have a long way to go to get to the levels of the Daniel Cormier – Jon Jones bad blood but the animosity is growing by the day between Cormier and Stipe Miocic.

Earlier this week, Miocic called Cormier an idiot and accused him of saying one thing and then saying something else completely different. Now Cormier has hit back. Talking on his Talk and Talker podcast, the UFC heavyweight champion said that when he beats Miocic again, he doesn’t think the former champion will be able to recover from it (as transcribed by MMA Fighting).

“Fighters, we’re a different breed. Right away I was like, ‘Oh Stipe, son of a bitch.’ But I like it though because the first time he’s all chummy and he’s all quiet and he doesn’t want to build a fight. Now at least he’s being vocal about how he feels. Be vocal. Tell me how you feel and that you want to kick my ass so when I kick your ass again, then you’re like in a dark room, just done.

“He’s gonna be done. After this one, it will be very hard for Stipe to get back to where he once was because this one’s going to break him. I know what the second Jones fight did to me. It almost broke me. But all my life experiences – my father, my cousin, my daughter, my roommate – all those life experiences allowed me to keep things in perspective, whereas he hasn’t really had to do that. So when he loses in this spot, I don’t think he’ll be able to recover from it. It’ll be too much.

“Stipe can say, ‘Oh he’s and idiot’ and he’s this and he’s that, but then I can just kick his ass again. Ultimately I had the last laugh in the whole thing with me and Stipe and I get to do it again, so that’s kind of how that thing plays out.”

In their first encounter last July at UFC 226, Cormier knocked out Miocic, to win the UFC heavyweight title. Before the loss, Miocic had defended the belt three times. He hasn’t fought since the loss. Cormier has fought once since, beating Derrick Lewis at UFC 230.

The rematch is set to go down at UFC 241 on August 17th, in Anaheim, California. Cormier had repeatedly stated that he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar next but within days of the WWE star declaring he wasn’t going to fight again, the rematch was announced.

Who do you think will walk away with the ‘W’ when the two meet again?
