Daniel Cormier To Work With George Foreman Ahead Of Stipe Miocic Trilogy

Daniel Cormier is set to face Stipe Miocic for a third time in 2020. And it looks like ‘DC’ will have a boxing legend in his corner for their trilogy fight, in George Foreman.

Taking to Instagram, Cormier said it was a dream come true to have the heavyweight boxing legend as a ‘friend and mentor’.

“Was really great to meet you champ, I am very excited to have you a part of my journey to the heavyweight championship. I’m excited to meet all the kids at the Houston youth center, and learn from one of the best. If anyone knows about becoming world champ as a older man you do champ. That performance motivated me to be a combat athlete, it’s a dream come true to have you as a friend and mentor. See you as soon as we get a date Big George! Such a beautiful human being. #andnewagain #heavyweightchamp #biggeorge #weareaka @biggeorgeforeman

Cormier shocked the world sixteen months ago, when he knocked out Stipe Miocic in the very first round at UFC 226, to become the UFC heavyweight champion of the world.

Following a successful title defence against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230, a lay off due to injury and the announcement that Brock Lesnar wasn’t returning to the UFC, Cormier and Miocic rematched at UFC 241. This time it was Stipe who had his hand raised, after scoring a fourth round TKO win, and in doing so, recapturing the title.

Foreman was a two time boxing heavyweight champion, who also won Olympic gold. The 70 year scored wins over Joe Frazier (twice) and Ken Norton in his World Boxing Hall Of Fame career, and was involved in the historic Rumble In The Jungle, against Muhammed Ali in 1974.

No date has been set for the trilogy bout between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic yet. But ‘DC’ has stated that it will be the last fight of his career.
