Derrick Lewis Calls Out Greg Hardy, Wants To Fight Him Next

Derrick Lewis is scheduled to get back inside the Octagon this weekend at UFC 244 against Blagoy Ivanov. ‘The Black Beast’ has previously defeated the likes of Volkov and Francis Ngannou, and will try to climb the rankings once again with a win over Ivanov.

Lewis (21-7 MMA, 12-5 UFC) had previously called out the former NFL player. However, Hardy will return to the cage to face Alexander Volkov at UFC Moscow in a week’s time, in what will be his toughest test till date. And Derrick Lewis, who spoke to the media ahead of the PPV this weekend, said he’d like to fight Greg Hardy after getting through his next opponent.

“That would be good”, Lewis told MMA Junkie regarding a potential showdown with Greg. “What’s his name? Greg? Greg ‘I Beat My Wife Because I Can’t Breathe’ Hardy. I would like to fight him. That would be great to fight him next.”

Ivanov (18-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will be a tough test for the heavyweight contender, who previously lost to Junior Dos Santos in March. Since then, Lewis underwent a knee operation, which has sidelined him for months.

The enterprising heavyweight also said that the time on the sidelines is good for him. He also mentioned that we could see a resurgent Lewis come UFC 244.

“I believe (time off) was the perfect thing for me”, Lewis said. “Everything happens for a reason and for me to reset my mind completely. It showed that I still want to do this. I started missing it so much. You’ll see me at my full potential.”
