Donald Cerrone And Conor McGregor To Battle For Interim Title?

Donald Cerrone and Conor McGregor have already verbally agreed to fight each other soon. The UFC President Dana White was all for the exciting match-up, which is sure to set off some sparks inside the cage. While having two of the most exciting fighters face each other is incentive enough, there may still be greater implications of the fight.

A resurgent Donald Cerrone is expected to welcome back the former lightweight champion, who last lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. Cerrone first challenged McGregor after his win against Alexander Hernandez, and Conor replied saying he’d be thrilled to face ‘Cowboy’ after that performance.

Dana White then gave the green light, saying that would be a fight he’d be interested in watching. The lightweight division is currently going through an interesting phase, with Khabib set to sit out for the next few months, with the exact time period depending on the champion’s willingness to accept NSAC’s ruling, and do an anti-bullying PSA.

White has already announced that Khabib’s next fight will be against Tony Ferguson, and considering Khabib’s immediate future is uncertain, we might see the lightweight fighters once again fight for an interim title.

And Donald Cerrone has already fanned the flames with his recent Instagram post.

“Good News @thenotoriousmma looks like we get to fight for 155 Interim Title ??vs?? @properwhiskey vs @budweiser “, Cerrone wrote in the caption.
