Dustin Poirier Responds To Conor McGregor Tweet

It’s been almost five years to the day since Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor faced off inside the UFC Octagon. Following McGregor’s win at UFC 178, the Irishman went on to become the UFC featherweight champion and soon after, the lightweight champion. But since then, he has only competed inside the Octagon once, losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov last November at UFC 229.

Poirier on the other hand, immediately moved up to lightweight after the loss and went on a tear. Losing only once in eleven fights, before also losing to Khabib last time out, earlier this month at UFC 242.

A few days after UFC 242, Poirier took to Twitter to call out McGregor, stating that a rematch made sense for the 30 year old.

The tweet was met with a firm response from the former two division UFC champion. Reminding Poirier that it only took him 90 seconds to finish him the first time.

Fast forward one week and McGregor took to Twitter to hit out at Poirier again, posting a photo of the end of their fight, in what was obviously a response to Poirier challenging McGregor to beat him even quicker next time, while talking to Ariel Helwani yesterday.

“Try and beat your record. What you get me in last time? Two minutes? Try and get me in 1:30”

Having not replied to McGregor’s tweet a week ago, ‘The Diamond’ responded to ‘The Notorious’ this time, again challenging him to run it back.

With Justin Gaethje’s latest impressive win, this past weekend against ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC Vancouver, both Poirier and Gaethje would make ideal opponents for McGregor to face on his return to the Octagon.

Would you like to see Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier run it back?
