Eddie Alvarez Is Out Of The ONE Lightweight GP Final

Eddie Alvarez has been forced to pull out injured, from his ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix against Saygid ‘Dagi’ Arslanaliev, at ONE: Century. Minutes ago, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong took to social media to report the news.

According to the ONE Chairman, ONE lightweight champion Christian Lee has agreed to step in on late notice, to face ‘Dagi’ on October 13th.

Alvarez lost his quarterfinal of the Lightweight Grand Prix to Timofey Nastyukhin but after the Russian himself was forced to pull out of the tournament, Alvarez was given a second chance in the GP. This came against Team Lakay’s Eduard Folayang, and after surviving an early scare, ‘The Underground King’ was able to submit Folayang in the first round.

‘Dagi’ has scored first round knockout wins of Ev Ting and Amir Khan on route to the Lightweight Grand Prix final, set for ONE: Century.

Christian Lee upset Shinya Aoki in the main event of ONE: Century in May, to become the new ONE lightweight champion.

ONE: Century goes down on October 13th, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, in Tokyo, Japan.
