Geje Eustaquio Wants To Be Known As The ‘Rematch King’

Former ONE Championship Flyweight World Champion Geje Eustaquio will return to action next week, inside the Mall of Asia Arena at ONE: Masters Of Fate, where he will meet a familiar foe in the form of Toni Tauru.

Eustaquio is gunning to avenge his 2016 loss to the man from Finland, who submitted him via a Rear-Naked Choke in the first round.

“I was not myself that time, I learned my lessons and I will do my best not to repeat the same mistakes,” recalled Eustaquio.

“I think staying focused and making sure that I am ready for everything when we’re in the Circle will make it a different story [this time around],” he added.

Aside from extracting revenge from his nemesis, the Team Lakay standout wants to prove that he is the master of the rematch.

“I am looking forward to our rematch – I want to live on that brand as the ‘Rematch King.’”

Parading twelve wins in his professional career, Geje shared an advantage he can utilise for the second meeting with Tauru.

“For me, [staying active] has very positive effects – it makes me grow faster and I am able to focus on my improvements, I had my developments, and I improved in all aspects of my mixed martial arts game,” a confident Geje stated.

Acknowledging how good of a grappler Toni is, Eustaquio promises to be more wiser during the fight to avoid the same mistakes he committed the last time around.

“My best tool against him will be my mind. I need to compete smarter this time around. I still need to watch out for his grappling, but I’m not afraid to mix it up on the ground.”

“Gravity” asserted the supreme stand up game he has compared to the “Dynamite” but he doesn’t underestimate it.

“I respect his striking skills, but I believe that we at Team Lakay have a superior striking edge over their team.”

Regardless of how the bout goes, Eustaquio guarantees the best form of himself to get him back at the contention trail.

“What matters most whenever I compete is to perform to the best of my ability and give the fans an entertaining fight. They will see my improvement and growth, and I will do my best to show how I can bring my game to the next level.”

Finally, Geje wants a reversal of fortune as he aims for a submission victory to make the revenge sweeter.

“I am looking for a stoppage, and I’m hoping that I can end it by submitting him.”

ONE: Masters Of Fate goes down on November 8th at the Mall Of Asia Arena, in Manila, Philippines.
