George Foreman Backs Conor McGregor To Beat Manny Pacquiao

Like his one-time opponent Evander Holyfield, George Foreman believes Irish superstar Conor McGregor could beat multi-division boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao.

After McGregor’s TKO loss to Dustin Poirier last month at UFC 257, Pacquiao’s representative Sean Gibbons urged the Irishman to focus on his MMA career, and said that his client was no longer interested in fighting him in a boxing ring.

However, McGregor isn’t ready to concede just yet. Speaking to Paddy Power, ‘The Notorious’ said that he would fight anyone, including Pacquiao, for a lucrative payday.

“Rolex watches, Rolls Royces, paint-stripping whiskey I can hawk to yanks – all these things don’t come for free baby,” McGregor said. “I’ll take them all on, Pacquiao, Tyson, M. Bison, Shao Kahn, no opponent is too big, no purse is too big.”

Speaking to The Daily Star, Foreman said he thinks that the former two division UFC champion should just focus on boxing now, as he can see him beating Pacquiao in the boxing ring.

“It’s hard for McGregor to accept it but he’s a better puncher than he is in MMA,” Foreman said. “I’d rather see him in boxing matches now. I think if he has a fight with Pacquiao he can actually beat him – good rules, over ten rounds, McGregor can beat him. He’s already adjusted to boxing, he’s not going to do good in MMA anymore. Pacquiao is very good as a matter of fact, but McGregor can beat him in a boxing match.”

As of now, the UFC is believed to be targeting a trilogy fight between McGregor and Poirier in the summer, as Dana White said that he would be interested in seeing the two lock horns in a rubber match. There is also growing speculation that the third fight between the two could be for the title if the UFC president can’t persuade Khabib Nurmagomedov to return.

Do you think Conor McGregor would have a chance of beating Manny Pacquiao in a boxing contest?
