Holly Holm Is Out Of UFC 243
Holly Holm is out of her bantamweight clash with Raquel Pennington at UFC 243. Minutes ago, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported that the former champion has been forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.
Holm vs Pennington was a rematch from UFC 184, which coincidentally was rescheduled after Holm was forced to withdraw from their first scheduled fight at UFC 181. ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ won their first encounter via split decision.
The injury means that Holm won’t return to the very same stadium where she had her most memorable night in MMA, when she knocked out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, to win the UFC bantamweight title.
It is not known yet whether Pennington will remain on the card. UFC 243 goes down on October 6th at the Marvel Stadium, in Melbourne, Australia. The stadium was called the Etihad Stadium when Holm defeated Rousey there in 2015. UFC 243 is headlined by Robert Whittaker vs Israel Adesanya.
