Following news that the Invicta FC strawweight champion Virna Jandiroba has signed with the UFC, Invicta FC have decided that the winner of their one night, eight woman strawweight tournament, ‘Phoenix Rising’, will be crowned their new strawweight champion.

The quarter-finals will be one round fights, with the fighter who gets the quickest win, getting to choose her opponent in the semi-finals.

The quarter-final line up is:

Mizuki Inoue vs Sharon Jacobson

Janaisa Morandin vs Brianna Van Buren

Danielle Taylor vs Juliana Lima

Kailin Curran vs Sunna Davidsdottir

Amber Brown vs Manjit Kolekar and Alyssa Krahn vs Itzel Esquivel will also be on the card and act as reserve bouts. These will both be one round fights as well.

A non-tournament strawweight bout between Kay Hansen and Magdalena Sormova, will be the co-main event on the card.

Phoenix Rising goes down on May 3rd at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City.

Meanwhile, the former champion Virna Jandiroba, will make her UFC debut against Carla Esparza at UFC Fort Lauderdale, on April 27th.
