Is Tenshin Nasukawa Heading To ONE Championship?

It has been a largely successful week for Chatri Sityodtong and ONE Championship. Their event this past weekend in Tokyo provided many highlights, and is an early contender for ‘Card of the Year’ for 2019. Demetrious Johnson won his ONE Championship debut, while Eddie Alvarez suffered a shock defeat. On the other hand, Angela Lee was handed her first defeat, while Bibiano Fernandes and Shinya Aoki walked out with championship gold.

One particular name in attendance raised quite a few eyebrows. Tenshin Nasukawa, who currently competes in RIZIN Fighting Federation was also in attendance. During the post-fight press conference, ONE Championship CEO Chatri was asked about possibly signing the teenage sensation, who recently lost to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

Chatri admitted that he and Tenshin had a chat, and that Nasukawa would once again like to face Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who fought on the undercard of ONE: A New Era.

“Tenshin was in the audience in the first row, and he has definitely expressed his opinion, privately and publicly, that he would like to join ONE Championship”, Sityodtong said (you can watch post-fight press conference here).

“He does want to face Rodtang again, so I’m very excited to hold that fight in the future.”

Tenshin also currently trains out of EVOLVE MMA in Singapore, and it shouldn’t surprise many if he does indeed sign with ONE Championship in the near future.
