Israel Adesanya Hits Back At Paulo Costa

Whereas most of the MMA world was congratulating Israel Adesanya, for his performance at UFC 236, one man who wasn’t, was Paulo Costa.

Following Adesanya’s win over Kelvin Gastelum in the co-main event, which saw him win the UFC interim middleweight title, Costa took to Instagram and call his 185lbs rival a ‘fake champion’.

Whilst talking to Luke Thomas on the latest episode of The MMA Hour, Adesanya hit back at Costa (as transcribed by MMA News).

“Hold up, fake champ? Does he have a belt? He wishes he was the ‘fake’ champ as well. First of all, didn’t he get popped for something recently for some acai in his stomach or something? I just wanna get him before USADA gets him. And eventually if he climbs up the ranks like he thinks he will, eventually we’ll see each other so he can find out. Gastelum’s a tough guy. He got touched up after the Uriah [Hall] fight. … A guy like that’s just salty. He’s just salty cause I’m the one getting the shine. They’re trying to steal my shine and I’m like, ‘f*** no.’”

It was quite an eventful chat with Israel, as well as hitting back at Costa, ‘The Last Stylebender’ also hit back at Jon Jones and had some harsh words for the middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker. Who he will face in a unification bout later this year.

In case you missed out on his war of words with Jones and Whittaker, you can see all the back and forth between them here and here.
