‘Jacare’ Souza Wants Kelvin Gastelum Rematch At MSG
‘Jacare’ Souza is looking to get back one of his losses in the UFC. The Brazilian has taken social media to call out Kelvin Gastelum, for a rematch. The two middleweights fought previously in the co-main event at UFC 224, where Gastelum had his hand raised, by way of a razor close split decision win.
Earlier this week, Gastelum took to social media himself, to ask the UFC to put him on the UFC 244 card, which goes down at Madison Square Garden, New York, on November 2nd.
A few hours later and ‘Jacare’ responded to Gastelum’s post, challenging him to a rematch at MSG.
The next day, ‘Jacare’ stepped up the challenge, by posting a custom made UFC 244 poster, featuring himself and Gastelum.
Since their first encounter, ‘Jacare’ has fought twice. Scoring a TKO win over the former champion Chris Weidman, and more recently, losing a unanimous decision to Jack Hermansson at UFC Fort Lauderdale.
Gastelum has only fought once since facing ‘Jacare’ in May of last year. The 27 year old faced Israel Adesanya, at UFC 236 for the UFC middleweight interim title. After a back and forth encounter, that earned both fighters the Fight of the Night bonus award, Adesanya won via unanimous decision.
With Robert Whittaker and Adesanya meeting at UFC 243 in Melbourne, Australia, to unify the UFC middleweight title, the winner of this battle between the top five guys in ‘Jacare’ and Gastelum, will be in a strong position to challenge the winner.
As of right now, neither Gastelum of the UFC have responded to ‘Jacare’s’ call out.
