Jarrell Miller Only Suspended For Six Months

Earlier this month, Jarrell Miller was refused a license from the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) for failing three drug tests. ‘Big Baby’ was due to challenge Anthony Joshua on June 1st, at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The fight was to be the biggest fight in Miller’s career to date, against Joshua who holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

However, Miller tested positive for the substances Endurabol, HGH and EPO in separate Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) administered tests.

The WBA has now passed a resolution suspending Miller for just six months, for failing multiple drug tests. His suspension will end on September 19th.

The WBA also said that Miller will be withdrawn from its rankings and will also have to register with VADA to undergo random testing, at his own expense.

After his six-month suspension ends, Miller will need to submit his test results, if he intends to return to the WBA rankings.

The fact that many boxers only fight every six months, means the suspension won’t serve as a real deterrent for boxers not to cheat. Paullie Malignaggi recently said that most professional boxers are on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). You can watch Malignaggi say this here.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, recently tested positive for EPO and was suspended for two years by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Although his suspension is only six months, it is reported that being pulled from the title fight with Joshua has cost Miller millions of dollars.

Do you think six months is a long enough suspension for Jarrell Miller?
