John Lineker Released From UFC

Life isn’t fair, and that was what UFC bantamweight contender John Lineker found out yesterday. A 16-fight veteran in the UFC, Lineker (31-9 MMA, 12-4 UFC) was supposed to fight Rob Font in the co-main event this past month at UFC on ESPN+ 12. However, John had to pull out of the fight just days before, due to a facial laceration he suffered while cutting weight.

However, him pulling out of the fight apparently didn’t go down too well with the UFC officials, with Lineker getting his marching orders from the organization. Confirmed by MMA Junkie, Lineker, who most recently lost to Cory Sandhagen via split decision at UFC on ESPN+ 8 back in April, has been released from the promotion.

After competing in the 125 pound division, Lineker was forced to move up a weight class due to his issues with cutting weight. In the 135 pound division, John Lineker was once again put up an impressive record of six wins and two losses, with his first loss in the UFC in the 135 pound division coming at the hands of former bantamweight champion T.J.Dillashaw.

Furthermore, MMA Junkie also reported that Lineker’s team refused to comment on his release, and are tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding his release.
