Jones Makes Case For Title Shot Against Miocic, Responds To Lesnar News

Jon Jones has been making his case for the next title shot against the UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. A few months ago, the former light heavyweight champion threatened to walk away from the sport after failed negotiations to move up to heavyweight to fight Francis Ngannou.

However, after live tweeting throughout the Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier trilogy at UFC 252, Jones made his intentions clear that he wants the heavyweight title. ‘Bones’ then tweeted that he had cleared the air with the UFC and vacated his title to concentrate on his move up a weight class.

Since then, UFC president Dana White has stated that Jones will get an immediate title shot at heavyweight but confirmed that Ngannou will get the next shot at Miocic.

Not content with waiting however, Jones has taken to social media in the last hour to make his case for the next shot at Miocic. The 33 year old began by saying that the champion doesn’t want to fight Ngannou again.

Miocic has only face Cormier in his last three fights. Prior to that, Stipe dominated Ngannou for five rounds at UFC 220. After such a one sided contest, Jones believes that the reward vs risk doesn’t make sense for the heavyweight champ.

Jones intents to bulk up before making the walk to the Octagon as a heavyweight for the first time, and he believes this fits well into the time Miocic will need to heal from his win over Cormier last month at UFC 252.

If Ngannou were to beat Miocic and then make his first title defence against Jones, there’s no doubt that this would be a huge fight. ‘Bones’ however, believes the real superfight is the light heavyweight GOAT vs the heavyweight GOAT.

Jones and Miocic have their rivalries with Cormier in common. And speaking on the DC & Helwani Show, the former two division champion stated that he believes Francis will beat Stipe, unless the champion takes enough time off to recover from their trilogy.

To make matters more interesting, in the last few hours, Brock Lesnar has been reported to have left the WWE. Perhaps opening a door for the former UFC heavyweight champion to return to the promotion. Jones has previously called out the 43 year old professional wrestler.

With news of a potential return, Jones has a message for Lesnar.

Should Lesnar return to MMA, it’s likely that he will fight in the UFC again. But that hasn’t stopped Bellator president Scott Coker from showing an interest.

With Miocic likely to defend his title against Ngannou, a fight between Jones and Lesnar makes all the sense in the world, should Brock return.

Would you be on board for Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones vs Brock Lesnar.
