Justin Gaethje And Ali Abdelaziz Hit Out At Conor McGregor

Of the six best fighters in the UFC lightweight division, four are booked to fight each other. Tony Ferguson and ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone will face off this weekend at UFC 238. And as we reported this morning, the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Dustin Poirier unification bout has finally been officially confirmed.

That leaves two men, Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje. Although McGregor currently has his hand in a cast, as we’ve said many times before, a fight between these two makes a whole lot of sense.

The question is, will McGregor take this fight? We all know that he wants a rematch with Khabib. But the general consensus is, is that he needs to win at least one big fight, before getting another shot at Khabib.

Whereas immediately after his loss to Khabib at UFC 229, he said that he is prepared to fight anyone it takes to get another shot at the current champion, more recently his posts on Twitter have insinuated that he wants Khabib and only Khabib next.

Yesterday, speaking to ESPN’s Sports Center, UFC president Dana White said that he can absolutely see McGregor getting a rematch with Khabib. Adding that they will make a decide what to do next with the former UFC two division champion, after Khabib vs Poirier goes down at UFC 242 on September 7th.

Dana’s comments obviously didn’t sit well with Gaethje though, who took to Twitter to respond to one of McGregor’s tweets from three days ago, where he called for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather.

Soon after posting this, Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz replied to his tweet, saying that McGregor isn’t only a pussy, ‘he’s also a c***’.

This isn’t the first time that Gaethje or Abdelaziz have hit out at McGregor. Abdelaziz has a long history of throwing insults at McGregor. While just last month Gaethje said that the Irish man needs to either fight or be removed from the rankings. Adding that he would love to f*** him up.

And it’s difficult to argue with Gaethje, in a stacked 155lbs division, it wouldn’t sit well with most fans, if McGregor got an immediate rematch with Khabib. Assuming Khabib wins at UFC 242. Which obviously isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Not only would giving McGregor either Gaethje, or the winner of Ferguson and ‘Cowboy’ be the fairest option all round, either fight would huge and be hell of a lot of fun!

Who do you think Conor McGregor should fight on his return to the UFC Octagon?
