Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington In The Works For UFC 245

A third title could be heading to Las Vegas on November 2nd. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani has reported that the UFC is working on Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington, to go down at UFC 245.

Last week it was announced that Max Holloway will defend his featherweight title against Alex Volkanovski at UFC 245. The 145lbs title fight was the second title fight announced on the card, after it was confirmed last month that Amanda Nunes will defend her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie.

The UFC had hoped that Usman would defend his welterweight title against Covington in the UFC 244 main event but talks broke down. As a result, Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will now headline UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden, for the Baddest Mother F***er title.

Following talks breaking down, Covington hit out at the UFC. To which UFC president Dana White hit back at the former UFC interim welterweight champion. And Dana wasn’t the only one to hit out over failed negotiations for UFC 244, Masvidal also hit out at Usman, for not accepting a fight with him at UFC 244.

UFC has indicated that it wants to end the year with it’s last pay-per-view card of 2019 with three title fights. UFC 245 remains the only card on the UFC schedule for the rest of the year, without a confirmed main event.

Would you like to see Kamuru Usman defend his title against Colby Covington headline UFC 245?
