Kevin Belingon Has An Opponent And Date In Mind For Next Fight

Former ONE bantamweight champion Kevin Belingon has a date and location in mind for when he wants to compete next. Having not fought since last October at ONE: Century, where he came up second best to Bibiano Fernandes, ‘The Silencer’ is aiming to return on May 29th in Manila, at ONE: Infinity 1.

“My target, hopefully, is the May event here in the Philippines. That is what I am looking at,” Belingon told ONE Championship.

“Now, I am focused on the ground game and my wrestling. Of course, I won’t relax on my specialty either – my striking. But then again, reviewing my match with Bibiano, I am really lacking on the ground and wrestling, so that’s what I am looking at right now.”

Coming off a tough 2019, Belingon plans to take the first step towards getting back into title contention in his next bout. And in such as stacked division, the Team Lakay stalwart is ready to face whoever ONE give him.

“There are a lot of names in the bantamweight division. Whoever they give me, I’ll take them on. The most important thing is to get back to my winning ways and compete for the title once more. That’s the goal – to get back on top and get the belt.”

But while Belingon is prepared to take on anyone in the ONE bantamweight division, there is one man who the 32 year old would love to face next.

“It will be exciting if they give me John Lineker. It will be a very good match. You see how he fights? He has excellent striking, and he is really good. So if we cross paths, it will be a barn burner, for sure.”

Former UFC fighter Lineker, also hasn’t competed since last October, where he won his ONE debut at ONE: Dawn Of Valor, beating Muin Gafurov via unanimous decision. A clash between the two explosive bantamweights would be a real fan favourite.

Manila was expected to hold ONE: Infinity 2 on May 29th but due to the coronavirus pandemic, ONE: Infinity 1 is now set to go down at the Mall Of Asia Arena on that date.

Would you like to see Kevin Belingon vs John Lineker go down at ONE: Infinity 1?
