Kevin Lee Predicts Poirier vs McGregor, Says Oliveira Beats Them Both

Kevin Lee has revealed that he’s giving a slight edge to Conor McGregor to beat Dustin Poirier in their upcoming trilogy, which will likely earn him a title shot. The 28 year old however, doesn’t believe that either man has the tools to beat the new UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira.

Having suffered the first knockout loss of his career in his rematch with Poirier at UFC 257 in January, McGregor is looking to put an end to the rivalry once and for all and earn the bragging rights in the rubber match, set to take place in the main event at UFC 264 on July 10th. The winner of the fight is likely to challenge Oliveira, who won the vacant title by finishing Michael Chandler at UFC 262.

While he’s never fought McGregor or Poirier, Lee is fully aware of Oliveira’s strengths, as he is coming off a third-round submission loss to the Brazilian in March 2020 at UFC Brasilia.

Kevin Lee’s Prediction

Speaking to Helen Yee (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), Lee said he’s leaning towards McGregor to beat Poirier next weekend, but believes that neither man stands a chance against Oliveira.

“I don’t know. I see Conor maybe winning this one,” Lee said. “I think he will make the adjustments and win it. But regardless, either one of them I don’t think have the complete game to beat somebody like Charles Oliveira.

“With Charles you’ve got to be on your P’s and Q’s the whole time and you’ve got to have the skills behind it. I think Dustin has had a lot of fights and he is kind of coming into his own, but I think he is starting to hit a plateau period where he kind of does what he does. But there is no new wrinkles added to his game. You have to hit Charles with something new.”

Kevin Lee is set to face Sean Brady at UFC Fight Night on August 28th. The bout was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 264, but ‘The Motown Phenom’ was forced to withdraw due to a rib injury.

How do you think Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor would fare against against Charles Oliveira?
