Khabib Manager: Tony Is Next, McGregor Rematch Will Happen

It would appear that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has changed his mind about Khabib fighting Tony Ferguson. At the start of the year, Abdelaziz said that Tony was 100% not next for Khabib (you can read about that here). However, in a response to a fan on Twitter, Abdelaziz stated that Tony is in fact next.

And it turns out that Tony isn’t the only fighter that Abdelaziz has had a change of opinion on. Since Khabib beat Conor McGregor at UFC 229, Abdelaziz has been adamant that the former double champion doesn’t deserve a rematch. Speaking to TMZ Sports recently though, Khabib’s manager has said that this rematch will happen. But not necessarily inside the Octagon.

A rematch between Khabib and McGregor would be huge but the general consensus is that McGregor needs to work his way back up to contention. And it would appear that UFC President Dana White, is thinking along those lines, as he told ESPN recently.

“What I think needs to happen is Khabib versus Tony Ferguson, do Conor [McGregor] and ‘Cowboy’ [Donald Cerrone] and if they both come out of that, we do the rematch.”
