Leon Edwards To Face Nate Diaz At UFC 262

Leon Edwards has got his wish of a big named opponent. The Brit will face Nate Diaz in the UFC 262 co-main event on May 15th.

In the last few minutes, ESPN‘s Ariel Helwani announced the news on social media. He also reported that it is set to be the promotion’s first ever non-title five round co-main event.

Edwards returned earlier this month against Belal Muhammad in the UFC Vegas 21 main event. Unfortunately for ‘Rocky’ however, his first fight in almost two years ended in a no-contest after a nasty accidental eye poke on his opponent early in the second round.

After the fight, Muhammad demanded an immediate rematch. Edwards though, stated that he wanted a title shot. Soon after however, the UFC announced that Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal in a rematch at UFC 261. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ won their first encounter in a one-sided unanimous decision win last year at UFC 251, after ‘Gamebred’ stepped in on one weeks’ notice when Burns tested positive for COVID.

As for Diaz, he hasn’t fought since losing to Masvidal at UFC 244 at the end of 2019 when the BMF title was on the line. Prior to that, Nate beat Anthony Pettis at UFC 241.

Who do you think will have their hand raised when Leon Edwards takes on Nate Diaz in the UFC 262 co-main event?
